



Skills development/Training event Support grant
This grant aims to support established researchers in their need to develop or obtain skills that can be used as part of research or education in the field of Parasitology. The event must take the form of a training workshop where delegates are trained in a specific field, and it is not intended to attend symposiums, conferences, or meetings. Established researchers can apply to the PARSA Council for financial support to attend training events.

Applications should include the following:

Completed application form (see attached)

A short curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages).

Current PARSA membership certificate.

A training invitation, announcement or call.
-
Relevant outcome letters for other sources of funding.
Eligibility:
-
The applicant must be an established researcher (i.e. hold an academic position at a tertiary or have an appointment with a research institution).

The applicant must be a paid-up PARSA member (without outstanding membership dues).

The training event the applicant intends to attend must take the form of a workshop where delegates receive structured training in a specific field.

As the amount available may not cover the total costs related to the training, it is imperative that applicants should seek and provide evidence of other sources of funding.

The training event should be within the year of application (within 12 months from the award date).
Conditions:

One award, of R10,000, is available for each applicant.

A maximum of two applications will be supported per year.
-
An applicant will be awarded only one training award within any two-year period.
-
Payment will only be made when the proof of acceptance or payment for the event registration is provided.

This award is not intended for conference attendance; however, subject-specific meetings and symposiums might be considered when accompanied by a strong motivation.

Incomplete applications will not be considered (please complete the application form below).

The recipients of these awards will be required to submit a written report (with four to five conference photos) within two months after the conference, which will be published in the next PARSA newsletter.

The evaluation committee reserves the right not to award the scholarships if, in their opinion, the applications do not warrant it.

The decision of the Council is final, and no correspondence regarding the decision will be entered into.
