



Established Researcher Training Grant
PARSA members can apply to the PARSA Council for financial support towards the hosting of training events that specifically focus on the field of Parasitology, for postgraduate students and researchers. The event must take the form of a hands-on workshop where delegates are trained in a specific field of Parasitology. This support offers PARSA members an opportunity to host events that will develop skills and build capacity in one or several fields of parasitology. The hosting of symposiums, conferences, or meetings will not be considered for support.

Applications should include the following:

Completed application form (see attachment)

A short curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages)

Current PARSA membership certificate
Eligibility:
-
The applicant must be an established researcher (i.e. hold an academic position at a tertiary or have an appointment with a research institution).

The applicant must be a fully paid-up PARSA member (without outstanding membership dues).

As the amount available will not cover the total costs of the event, applicants must provide evidence of other sources of funding.

The event must take place within the year of application (within 12 months from the award date).
Conditions of the award:

The value of the grant will be a fixed amount of R15 000 per event.

A maximum of two events will be supported per year.

Payment will only be made when all application documentation has been received and approved by the evaluation committee.

The PARSA Council (or evaluation committee) reserves the right not to award funding if, in their opinion, the applications do not warrant it.

PARSA must be acknowledged as a sponsor in all reports and other related documents.

Incomplete applications will not be considered (please ensure that the application form is fully completed).

Applicants can submit applications throughout the year (no fixed deadlines apply) however, only two applications can be supported in any given year.

Applications should be submitted at least two months prior to the event.
The recipients of these awards will be required to submit a written report (including four to five event-related photos) within two months after the event was held. The report will be published in the next PARSA newsletter and shared on PARSA social media platforms
